Anti-Racist Parenting:
A Foundational Course

Parenting is especially challenging right now on many levels. Not only are we in the midst of a global pandemic, we’re also trying to raise socially conscious kids during a time of significant racial and political unrest. We want to share insight and guidance on rooting out racism in ourselves and in our communities while teaching our kids to do the same.
This is a course for non-Black parents who intend to rear race-conscious children who will learn skills to properly confront racism as their kids matriculate into adulthood. This course is designed for the parent who is learning to talk about race and the implications it has on society.
The Color-Conscious Neighbor: A Guide for Healthy & Safe Living Among People of Color
Course Start Date: July 28, 2021 Cost: $120
When you think of living in a racially diverse neighborhood, what do you imagine? Some people might see it as a great opportunity to learn more about other cultures. Others may be worried about the safety and security of their family. What if I told you that your child could benefit from growing up in a community with racial diversity?
The benefits of raising children in an ethnically diverse environment include:
A greater awareness and understanding for other cultures.
Improved social skills such as empathy, perspective taking, cooperation, negotiation skills, etc.
Increased academic performance (specifically test scores) due to access to culturally enriching learning environments.
This course explores the history of racial segregation and its impact on neighborhoods today, and provides tools for engaging Black neighbors and neighbors of color.
Black Hair for White Parents
Course Start Date: July 28, 2021 Cost: $220
The goal of this mini-course is to give you the tools and knowledge you need to find solutions that work for your child's hair type. For many parents of a Black child, hair care is a struggle.
We'll start with some basic information about Black hair types and textures so you can better understand why certain styles work better than others. It’s never too early to teach your child about hair. Hair is an important part of their identity and it can be difficult for children who have different types of hair than their peers. It may also cause them to feel insecure or uncomfortable with themselves. However, there are ways you can help your child maintain good self-esteem while teaching them how to care for & be proud of their unique type of hair!
